Dr. Bernstein graduated cum laude from the School of Medicine of the University of Buenos Aires towards the end of 1988.

He did his General Surgery Residency at the Hospital Zonal General de Agudos "Prof. Dr. Ramón Carrillo", a hospital associated to the School of Medicine of the University of Buenos Aires. It was here that he became Head of Residency of the Clinical Surgery Department.

He was a resident doctor on Plastic, Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Hospital Interzonal General de Agudos "Evita" (formerly called Hospital Araoz Alfaro), a hospital associated to the School of Medicine of the University of Buenos Aires. There he became Head of Residency of the Plastic, Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery Department.

He is a plastic surgery specialist with significant expertise in the various branches of surgery, such as thoracic and coloproctologic surgery, and microsurgery.
