The diversity and quality of the options afforded by Buenos Aires make theater-going one of the city’s most significant cultural activities.
The city’s major theaters, which feature the more grandiose plays, can be found on Corrientes Avenue and its side streets, which offer a broad array of genres such as music hall, musicals and independent drama. The Complejo Teatral de Buenos Aires is comprised of five theaters owned by the Government’s Culture Secretariat: San Martín, Alvear, Regio, De la Ribera and Sarmiento.
No Buenos Aires visitor can miss a performance at Teatro Colón, the city’s main opera house, whose acoustics and shows have earned it worldwide recognition.
